01 · The segment
What is engineered plant equipment?
Most plant equipment is bought from a catalog. You find the machine that comes closest to what you need, then you change your process — or your building — to accommodate it.
Engineered plant equipment works the other way around. It starts with your process, your throughput, your product, your floor space and your existing line, and the machine is designed around those constraints. The result is a system that drops into the plant you already have and runs the product you actually make.
It is what you specify when the standard machine doesn't fit — because of the product, the space, the rate, the sanitation requirement, or because the machine you need was never built by anyone in the first place.

03 · Why Duravex
Four reasons, each with the receipts.
Every claim below is supported by our own order and labor records.
01
We design it, build it and install it
Most projects fail in the handoffs — between the engineer who drew it, the shop that fabricated it, and the crew that put it in. We don't have those handoffs.
Engineering, laser cutting, forming, machining, welding, PEM insertion, finishing — bead blast, passivation, paint — controls, assembly and our own field-installation crews are all in one plant. A machine we design never leaves our control until it's running in yours.
02
Custom is our normal volume, not an exception
Roughly 45% of everything we ship in this segment is a quantity of one, and since 2019 we've built 6,900+ distinct part numbers — the overwhelming majority engineered for a single customer's process.
A shop that mostly runs repeat production treats a one-off as a disruption. For us it's the standard job, and our estimating, scheduling and quality systems are built around it.
03
We handle real capital-project scale
Single pieces of engineered equipment we've delivered range from a few thousand dollars to nearly $950,000 for one machine, with complete multi-machine plant projects beyond that. Since 2019 this segment alone accounts for over $63 million across 6,600+ orders for 148 customers.
That means we can carry a capital project — the engineering hours, the material buy, the shop capacity, the installation crew and the schedule — without subcontracting the core of it away.
04
We already know your industry's constraints
We don't learn food-safe fabrication, explosion-rated environments or 24/7 production plants on your project. We've been building into those constraints for two decades — stainless contact surfaces, passivated welds, washdown-rated construction, sanitary conveyor design, and equipment that has to go in during a 72-hour shutdown window and run Monday morning.
Track record
Our customers don't leave.
Seven of our largest engineered-equipment customers have been ordering from us continuously for 15 to 20 years — among them two global tobacco manufacturers, a bakery-systems OEM, a bowling-systems OEM, a leaf processing operator and a global plastics film producer. Much of what we service today, we built a decade or more ago.
Nobody keeps buying custom machinery, year after year, from a supplier that gets it wrong.

05 · How a project works
Six steps from bottleneck to running machine.
Step 1
Understand the process
We start at your line — the product, the rate, the constraints, the space, and what's failing today. Not from a spec sheet.
Step 2
Engineer the solution
Our engineering team develops the design, and you review it before a single piece of steel is cut.
Step 3
Fabricate in-house
Laser, form, machine, weld, finish. Same building, same people, same quality system.
Step 4
Assemble, wire and test
The machine goes together and gets checked out here — not for the first time on your floor.
Step 5
Install on site
Our field crews handle mechanical and electrical installation, including work inside planned shutdown windows.
Step 6
Support it
Modifications, spares, rebuilds and relocations — for the life of the equipment. Some of the machines we service, we built 15 years ago.
Bring us the problem, not the print.
Some customers arrive with a finished drawing package. Most arrive with a bottleneck, a sanitation problem, a line that can't hit rate, or a machine nobody makes anymore. Either one works.
Tell us what the process has to do, and we'll tell you what it takes to build it.
